Management Liability Gold vs Platinum: What's the Difference?
DUAL offers two Management Liability solutions designed to meet the needs of different business sizes and risk profiles. While both products are based on the same Management Liability wording and provide broad protection for the risks associated with running a business, there are some important differences in target market, available limits, deductibles, and sub-limits.
Management Liability Gold
Management Liability Gold is designed specifically for the micro SME market. It is suitable for businesses with:
- Up to $5 million turnover
- Fewer than 100 staff
- Policy Limits available from $100,000 up to $2 million
Gold provides the same core breadth of cover as Platinum but includes reduced sub-limits on certain sections of the policy. This allows DUAL to offer a more affordable solution for smaller businesses while still providing comprehensive protection.
Management Liability Platinum
Management Liability Platinum is DUAL’s original Management Liability offering and is designed for larger SME businesses. Via the Web Rater it is suitable for:
- Businesses with up to $50 million turnover
- Up to 200 staff
- Policy Limits available from $1 million up to $5 million
Platinum provides higher sub-limits across a range of coverage sections, and may be appropriate for businesses requiring broader protection and higher levels of financial security.
Subject to underwriting criteria, DUAL specialty underwriters may consider businesses with up to $150ml turnover, 1000 staff and limits up to $10ml.
What’s the Same?
Both Gold and Platinum:
- Are based on the same DUAL Australia Management Liability wording.
- Provides a broad range of Management Liability protection.
- Cover key exposures such as Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime, Tax Audit, Statutory Liability, and Whistleblower Cover.
- Are available through the DUAL WebRater platform.
- Have the same territorial and jurisdictional parameters.
Key Differences
The primary difference is that Gold contains reduced sub-limits for selected coverage sections, whereas Platinum provides higher sub-limits, often up to the policy limit.
Examples include:
Sub-limits
- Employment Practices Liability: Gold $250,000 sub-limit vs Platinum up to the indemnity limit.
- Crime: Gold $250,000 vs Platinum up to $1 million.
- Tax Audit Costs: Gold $50,000 vs Platinum $500,000.
- Crisis Containment: Gold $50,000 vs Platinum $250,000.
- Statutory Liability: Gold $250,000 vs Platinum $1 million.
- Occupational Health & Safety Defence Costs: Gold $500,000 vs Platinum up to the indemnity limit.
Deductible
Designed with smaller businesses in mind, ML Gold offers lower deductibles across Entity Cover, Employment Practices Liability, Crime, Statutory Liability and Tax Audit, helping to reduce out-of-pocket costs when claims arise.
